Project Purpose:
The purpose of this project is to increase the number of children with health insurance and to increase access to and utilization of dental treatment and general medical care.  Services provided include insurance enrollment into three public programs (Medi-Cal, Healthy Families and Healthy Kids), follow-up to ensure families have kept their medical appointments and that they understand how to access the care they need in the future, and vouchers for dental treatment for 6 to 18 year old undocumented children who are ineligible for any insurance programs.

Project Service Area:
The service area of this project includes the two Latino, rural towns of Woodlake and Lindsay in agriculturally based Tulare County, California.  In Tulare County, about 10% of children are uninsured. However, in Lindsay about 27% of the migrant children who received oral health screenings were without insurance, while in Woodlake about 12% of those screened were without insurance.
